Goal: Enhance our current CMS that controlled iOS and Android apps that were built on our custom platform to make it easier to use for customers without a technical background.
As a Product Manager at the time, I had to set priorities for developing app features with a positive ROI and provide a CMS that was functional, but (admittedly) was not that usable. Realizing our primary customer-base was Marketing folks without a technical background, I took it upon myself to redesign the CMS to make it easier for them to use.
I reviewed all our current functionality and determined areas that could be grouped differently from a presentation standpoint in the CMS to make them more logical. Because of the abstraction that was designed into the system from the beginning, this would not introduce any code rewrite on the apps themselves. I identified common elements across groups of pages and placed them in the same area every time for consistency and added custom items specific to each page in another area that was the same across each page but could expand to fit the needs of any given custom specification.
I learned Axure within a week and delivered a wireframe to the development team to begin estimating in our weekly grooming sessions and enhance our current CMS.
